Bega Squash Club

The Bega Squash club was formed in 1976. The club came in to being after Peter and Val Eaton moved to Bega and had the courts built at North Bega. With Peter and Val’s enthusiasm squash became an instant hit and the club has been strong and vibrant ever since.

In 1997 the club moved to its current location at the Bega Country Club at Tarrraganda, when the owner of the courts they had been using sold the building to the Bega Cheese Cooperative. 

The then Bega RSL, now Club Bega had two courts at the Golf Club and agreed to build 2 additional courts to allow the Bega Squash Club to continue running their competitions.

Club Bega as owners and managers of the courts provide support and assistance to Bega Squash Club through affiliated membership providing Club Bega membership benefits to Bega Squash Club players and via sponsorship from their Club Development Fund.

With the township of Bega having a population of only 4,500 the club boasts they have consistently had close tor 100 players in the three competitions each year, and an additional membership junior players with the Junior Committee running competitions.

Although Bega is on the far south coast - close to the Victorian Border - quite a distance from other major centres, members are active in NSW and Masters tournaments and teams from the local high school have performed extremely well in schools competitions over the years.

Bega High School teams have always punched above their weight with both the boy’s and girl’s teams frequently featuring in state finals of the State High School knockout competition and team members being selected for state representation.

How to Join Bega Squash Club

Nominations are taken at any time for the next competion - contact the Club Secretary or Grading Officer or write your name on the nomination sheet located on the noticeboard at the Courts at Bega Country Club Tarraganda.

Fee and Charges:

Membership

Bega Squash club membership is gained by joining Club Bega as a Squash Member - $50 per year, due by 1 April each year.

  • Membership covers administration costs and
  • Club Bega membership benefits, including 24/7 access to the courts for social hire outside of other formal booking times such as competition, tournaments, school sport etc.

Competition Fees

Competition Fees are currently $75.00 per competition, you must be a Club Bega Squash Member to play in the Bega Squash Club competitioin

  • Competition fees cover court hire for the competition including finals matches, the club provides balls and scoring systems, however you will need your own racquet. 
  • Competion Fees are payable during the first week of each comp.  The Treasurer will be at the courts each night of the 1st and 2nd week of each competition and fees must be finalised prior to taking the court in Week 2 or a payment arrangement entered into.
Insurance

You are responsible for your own sports insurance.  You can join NSW Squash as a member which provides some insurance cover.  For information contact NSW Squash.
